TYPES: PERSONALITY & NLP

Wednesday, September 1, 2010, 7:15 pm Coffee & Registration, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto

There are many systems for categorizing people into different personality types. Most of them are short on simple, effective ways to respond to differences in a way that truly changes the quality and effectiveness of your communication.

In just two hours, Linda Ferguson and Chris Keeler will introduce you to a simple, intuitive way of typing people based on a system that is elegant, effective and well-established.  As we do, we will also allow you to experience the parts of yourself that already naturally empathize with each type so that you can create rapid, deep rapport.  Then we'll demonstrate NLP patterns that will show you how to move from recognizing type to generating agreement and transforming behaviours.

Free NLP in July

We have decided to postpone our fundraising efforts for the Canadian Cancer Society (there will be more opportunities for that in the fall) and celebrate summer with three evenings of free NLP.  In fact, we're taking free as our cue and providing three evenings that are loosely organized around a theme but provide lots of opportunity for us to answer your questions, demonstrate how NLP applies to particular problems or goals, and teach you something you can use as soon as you leave. We will not promise to satisfy your curiosity - because we hope we will make you much more curious about all the different ways our training will help you know more so that you can gain the clarity and control you want.

You do need to register for each of the evening sessions and provide a day-time phone number where we can reach you. It's easy to do: just call Carole at 416-928-2394 or leave a message on the machine with your name and phone number.

Here are the themes:

July 7, 7:30PM to 9:30PM - A Story Well Told - how to tell stories better (with NLP)

July 14, 7:30PM to 9:30PM - Parenting with NLP (with special focus on raising kids who write well)

July 21, 7:30PM to 9:30PM - Healing with NLP

We can almost guarantee that it won't be snowing - so come and learn with us!

All programs at 47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto. Parking available in the lot at the back of the building (enter off St. Joseph St.) for all evening programs, or walk south from the Museum subway stop.

How's Your Day Been?

Linda recently attended the Spirit of Hope Benefit that featured Brian Mulroney as host.  On the day that the Oliphant commission found that Mulroney had engaged in inappropriate business dealings, Mulroney faced a packed audience.  He looked at us and began:  "How's your day been?"

Our days are very full.  We are happy to report that we love training NLP: whether we are taking a new group of practitioners through the certification training or workshopping new applications with our community, we are fully engaged, challenged and on purpose.  Sometimes we are challenged in other ways: traffic in Toronto is especially awful this spring and it has changed the programs we can offer.  We have personal challenges (just like everybody else).  We are pushing through behind the scenes to develop some projects that will make big differences in what we do and how we work with people. We live in exciting times. And often, we live in interesting times.

If you'd like to know us better, please call us. Chris and Linda and Carole all love to talk about what we do and to listen to the many different stories that bring people to us and to NLP.  It's not an imposition to ask questions: we do what we do because we want people to engage with the work we do.  We would love to help you explore whether our programs and community could help you make positive changes for yourself and others.

What's coming next?  June is quiet while we ride out the construction on the Gardiner and the G20 craziness.  July will bring new programs and some big announcements for the fall.  In the meantime, we will be available for telephone introductions and, quite possibly, for a cup of coffee and a personal introduction to the NLP summer intensives.

Register Now for Summer Intensive Programs

NLP Practitioner Certification Summer Intensives run from Monday July 12 through Saturday, July 17 (inclusive) and from Sunday August 8 through Friday August 13 (inclusive).  These courses have the same content, requirements and hours as our three-weekend certifications.

Key benefits to becoming certified through NLP Canada Training's NLP Practitioner Certification:

☆ Effective practices for changing attitudes, beliefs and focus in yourself and others

☆ Enhanced ability to read and connect with other people using a powerful combination of verbal and nonverbal techniques

☆ Tools and techniques for asking better questions, telling better stories, and crafting stronger agreements

This course provides participants with an opportunity to better understand the relationship between mind, body and language,  to explore how human beings really make decisions, and to change their perceptions and behaviours to achieve satisfying outcomes.  If you work in a field where self-control allows you to achieve your best performance, or if you depend on your influence on others to get results, you will be delighted to find yourself in a practical, grounded program that allows you to make real-time change in the way you influence yourself and others. Our participants make real changes and see tangible differences in both influence and satisfaction.

Here are 5 reasons to train with us this summer:

1. We are Canadian leaders in NLP, who continually renew and evolve our courses to keep them up to date with current thinking in psychology, business, and related fields. We share our learning through free materials available through links from our website. This includes more than 40 one-page articles available for download and printing.

2. We provide excellent, ongoing support.  You are welcome to repeat any part of the training for two years after certification, and to renew indefinitely at an extremely low rate.  This means that whenever you are ready to improve your skills, you can come back to practice with new people. You can always reach the trainers by phone or email for further consultation, and Linda will offer a free coaching session during or following a training.

3. We are a community of people interested in change, influence and personal excellence.  You can meet our community at regular evening events, in a one day course, or at certification trainings.  We also feature our community at the HOPE Symposium where all the speakers are NLP practitioners trained by NLP Canada Training.

4. We are committed to making NLP training financially accessible.  Our payment plans charge no interest and no fees. We simply work with clients to develop customized schedules with comfortable payments. We also offer special rates for multiple registrations and for students.

5. Summer intensives offer a wonderful chance to make deep and wide progress in a very short time.  The beauty of our location on Queen's Park and the long daylight hours make it easy to work hard and relax.

If you're already an NLP Practitioner certified by NLP Canada Training, you will receive an email explaining the schedule, content, and advantages of Master Practitioner training this summer.

Call 416-928-2394 to register, or to arrange a free consultation with Linda Ferguson to discover how training with NLP Canada Training will move you toward stronger results and increased satisfaction.

May offers last chance for certification before the HST

May

Sun May 16 - Purpose and Presence through NLP, 10AM - 4:30PM

Thurs May 20 - How to Focus, 7:30pm - 9:30

Sat/Sun May 29/30 - NLP Certification 1: Focus on Strengths   9am to 6pm

Call Carole at 416-928-2394 for more information.

May will be relatively quiet this month at NLP Canada Training Inc. Chris Keeler is taking some time to recover from back surgery and both he and Linda are busy with plans for next year.  Watch for news in June about our fall schedule and our next symposium!

In the meantime, we encourage newcomers to find time for one of the short programs we are offering in May. They are great ways to experience our training and make decisions about what will work best for you as you move toward goals or through the obstacles that are holding you back.  Any fees you pay for a short program will be deducted from your NLP practitioner certification if you decide to register this summer. It means you will get real value from the program and a risk-free introduction to more extensive work with us.

Linda will be offering a brand new one day course that is going to allow people to step out of their routines, take a mountain-top view of their lives, and make choices about how far they want their vision to extend.  This is not a course in spiritual direction: it's a chance for both practitioners and newcomers to ask themselves questions about how their current goals fit into whatever beliefs they have about a life well-lived.  It's also a chance to notice how the practices of NLP help us be fully present - both for ourselves and for the people with whom we connect.  Master Practitioner, storyteller and teacher John Dafos will join Linda in leading people through exercises that allow them to focus their thoughts and resources on how they want to be present in their lives and what they want to do with that fully-alive and energized presence.

Later the same week, Linda will lead an evening program on How to Focus.  The role of conscious attention in our lives seems to involve moving restlessly from one thing to another, often in search of danger or difficulty.  NLP can help us settle our monkey minds so that we can safely put all of our energy and intellect to work on just one thing at a time.  This is a well-established program (Linda & Chris offered it at the CANLP conference last year) and a great opportunity to experience the NLP Canada Training approach to combining state-of-the-art thinking in neuro-psychology with the practices of NLP.  You'll learn a little about your mind, a little about your brain, and a little about our community and the way we teach.  It's a great program for anyone who'd like to settle into a relaxed and productive focus.

The month wraps up with the first weekend of our NLP Practitioner Certification.  If you are able to attend one of the short programs, you'll be able to talk to trainers and practitioners and find out why this program has been successful in attracting so many terrific, successful and interesting people (find out more by browsing the information and videos about our practitioner/speakers at www.relaxedandready.ca).  If you can't get to a short program, call 416-928-2394 and tell Carole you'd like to arrange a phone call or meeting with Linda. We want you to have all the information you need to make a great choice.

Ericksonian Hypnosis with Mike Mandel Starts April 17

It's a very transitional time of year. Some weekends are warm and sunny and we are eager to be outside. Others are wet and dreary and we are torn between being productive and napping. It's an in between time and we often find ourselves in-between decisions.

Here's the thing: if you don't decide to take Ericksonian Hypnosis with Dr.Mike Mandel in April, you will have to wait until November. If you do decide to take Ericksonian Hypnosis with Mike Mandel, you will find that the weather and the transitions matter less than you thought.

If you're ready for Ericksonian Hypnosis with Mike Mandel, click here for all the details. If you're not sure yet, keep reading.

I sometimes tell people that taking hypnosis is like taking a vacation. Four days and one evening of going in and out of trance will leave you with the same feeling that you get from a great vacation. You will be simultaneously relaxed and energized, completely engaged without any sense of struggle or urgency. You will trust that your ideas and skills are developing as they should and that you have everything you need to do what you want to do.

Here are three reasons you might want to take Ericksonian Hypnosis:

1) You can use our no-fees, no-charge payment plan to pay in comfortable increments (it's hard to get that deal on other vacations)
2) You can relax, focus, and become energized without using any of your vacation time. In fact, you might enjoy your next vacation more because you've become capable of going into self-hypnosis to recharge, problem solve, or become more creative
3) You're probably not laughing enough and Mike Mandel will make you laugh. His courses always heighten attention and learning through Mike's marvellous sense of humour.

Of course, if you're a therapist, hypnotist, coach or practitioner, Ericksonian hypnosis will give you new and extremely effective ways to connect with your clients and help them to connect with strengths, solutions and new ideas.

Of course, if you're in a business where being at the top of your game is important, Ericksonian hypnosis will give you the ability to access your game state more often and more effectively.

Of course, if you want to pay attention to people in a way that creates a deep, nurturing connection, Ericksonian hypnosis will add a new dimension to your relationships.

Finally, though, there's one really compelling reason to call Carole at 416-928-2394 and register for Ericksonian Hypnosis (April 17/18 and 23/24/25). And you know exactly what that reason is.

Just ask yourself: Why should I be registering for Ericksonian Hypnosis this spring?

What's Up in Spring 2010

March and April are busy months for certification training.  Our newest group of NLP Practitioners will graduate on March 21. We are always excited to welcome new practitioners into the community!

In April, we are offering our certification in Coaching with the Enneagram. Whether you have had a long-time interest in the Enneagram or it's brand new to you, you might want to consider this terrific course with Barbara Luedecke. Dr. Luedecke has had a long, successful practice as an organizational consultant and executive coach.  She's well-versed in many different theories of personality, and she tells great stories about how understanding personality can accelerate coaching results.  You'll find that you are intrigued, energized and curious about understanding yourself and others better. The course runs April 10 and 11.

The following weekend, our latest training in Ericksonian Hypnosis begins (April 17/18 and 23/24/25). Mike Mandel is, quite simply, the best.  Everyone who studies with him learns, laughs, and enters into trances with a solid expectation of bringing good things back out of them. If you're interested in how the ability to relax and focus deeply could accelerate your results and improve your quality of life, this is a terrific course.

We're also offering our first course at the Centre for Spirituality at Work on March 29. Whether you are in need of some inspiration or curious about how to inspire others, you'll enjoy this evening program and you'll get to network with other people who believe that our quality of life is part of our quality of work.

The Enneagram and NLP

Thursday, February 4, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, 47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto

Would you like to hear what your choice of words is saying about you? Would you like to choose your words to make an impact on different types of people?  This evening will introduce you to the Enneagram: an effective, flexible system of personality types that describes nine different ways of interacting with the world.  It will also introduce the meta-model, an NLP based set of tools for understanding how the language people uses reflects and influences the way they perceive themselves and the world.  When you put them together, you have an elegant set of practices for recognizing the patterns people are using to live and work.

This two hour evening is suitable for people who have already experienced NLP and/or the Enneagram, and for people who want to know more before studying either NLP or the Enneagram.  It will feature a plain language overview of the material, and a chance to participate in exercises that allow you to get hands-on experience of how NLP and the Enneagram work.

Click here for a short video introduction to the Enneagram.

Three One Day Courses in January

Our one-day courses provide terrific value. For a limited investment of both time and money, you'll be introduced to our methods at NLP Canada Training and make real-time, tangible developing skills or overcoming obstacles. NLP Practitioners register for these courses so that they can apply their expertise in new ways, or simply go through change processes in a group setting. They know these techniques will work: safely, effectively, tangibly.  Newcomers to NLP are introduced to neurolinguistic programming in the context of making progress towards something they want.  Often, they also get to know people in the NLP Canada Training Community.

All three courses run from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm at 47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto, Ontario. We are conveniently located a 5 minute walk south of the Museum subway stop, at the corner of St. Joseph St. and Queen's Park Cres. E.

Here's what we have in store for your quick start this January:

Saturday, January 9:  NLP for Getting Results

Linda Ferguson will lead you through a five step process for getting results you like. It's not enough to set goals or to feel better about problems. You need a process that will reliably move you from setting a great goal to achieving that great goal.  While you will probably need to get outside the training room to actually achieve your goal, you will be amazed at how much progress you can make in just one day.  We'll use your senses, your thoughts, your physiology and your language to shape your goal, identify what is getting in your way, transform your attitude to obstacles, and prepare you for a strategy that gets results.

Sunday, January 10:  Coaching with NLP: Solving Problems

Linda Ferguson and Chris Keeler, Trainers.  In NLP, we would much rather talk about setting positive outcomes and moving toward them than about solving problems. However, many (if not most) coaching clients will seek out coaching because they have a problem they are not solving effectively on their own. How can an NLP-based coaching model remain focused on the positive while creating rapport with problem-based clients?  This one day course will allow experienced coaches, managers, educators and influencers to identify, isolate and transform problems. Both newcomers to NLP and experienced practitioners and master practitioners will recognize new elements in the way they are already working and find new paths to success for themselves and their clients or teams.

Saturday, January 16, Change that Sticks

Linda Ferguson and John Dafos, Trainers.  Change is easy. Making it stick is hard. Spend a day with Linda Ferguson and John Dafos (Master Practitioner, Educator, Writer) exploring the difference between change that feels good when it happens and change that is sustainable and reliable.  You'll learn six steps that make change ecological, sustainable and effective. Whether you are already a practitioner of NLP or an experienced change professional, you'll find this day allows you to improve your strategy for influencing others to make changes that stick. You might even find that you get better at making changes that stick in your own life.

Course Fees:  $145 plus GST per person or $150 plus GST when two people register together - so bring a friend.  NLP Practitioners trained at NLP Canada Training may register for $75 plus GST.

5 Steps to Better Networking

Thursday, November 19, 2009

7:30PM - 9:30 PM, 47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto

Showing up is a great first step, but it's not enough. If all you are doing at networking events is showing up, you're missing the steps that would make those events more productive and more enjoyable.

Learn to set goals and follow a process that is flexible enough to allow you to identify new opportunities and structured enough to keep you on track.  With these five steps in mind, you will move purposefully and effectively through events.  You'll get more accomplished and you'll have much more fun.

$35 includes GST.  Registration required.

No charge when you demonstrate your networking expertise by bringing at least one friend with you.

Focus on Goals

Thursday, December 3, 2009

7:30PM - 9:30 PM, 47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto

It's almost that time and you might be looking forward to setting goals for the new year or dreading it.  Either way, you will enjoy this short session that allows you to focus easily, naturally, and resourcefully on your goals.  You will learn a little about how your brain works, a little about the connections that allow us to enjoy our goals, and a little more about how to set goals that will work for you.

This is a great opportunity to experience some of the practices and principles of NLP. If you are new to NLP, you will find it practical, intuitive, and effective.  If you're an experienced NLPer, you will enjoy the support of your trainers and the group as you set your direction for the new year.

$35 includes GST.  Registration required.

All proceeds will support World Vision.
